How to use the app and install it on your device
1Recording
Tap the microphone button on the home screen to start recording. Tap again to stop. The transcription appears automatically.
Optionally add a topic or context before recording — this improves accuracy for technical or domain-specific content.
2Upload a File
On the Upload page, drag and drop an audio or video file, or tap "Browse files". Supported formats: mp3, wav, m4a, ogg, webm, mp4, mov (up to 500 MB).
3Transcription & Speaker Recognition
Language is detected automatically. Enable "Speaker Recognition" to identify different speakers — this uses 5× balance.
After transcription, copy, translate, or save the result as a note in a notebook.
4Translation
Set a translation language in Settings. After transcription, tap "Faithful Translation" for accuracy or "Polished Translation" for a natural-sounding result.
5Notebooks
Save transcriptions as notes inside notebooks. Open the Notebooks tab to view, organize, and review your saved notes.
6Install as App
Use Voice to Text like a native app — no App Store required.
In Safari, tap the Share button (□↑) at the bottom, then tap "Add to Home Screen". In the dialog, turn OFF the "Open as Web App" toggle (it's on by default; once off, the subtitle changes to "Quick access to this website from your default browser"), then tap "Add" in the top right. This way the icon opens the site in Safari, so recording won't be interrupted when the screen locks.
In Chrome, tap the menu (⋮) at the top right, then select "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App".
In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon (⊕) in the address bar, or go to the browser menu and select "Install Voice to Text".
Once installed, the app opens in its own window without the browser address bar, just like a native app.
